1. Who We Are

SpellInterview is an interview practice application for developers. This Privacy Policy applies to the SpellInterview mobile app and the SpellInterview website.

2. Information We Collect

In the SpellInterview app, we collect the account information you provide when you create an account or log in, such as your name and email address. If you submit the website registration form, we also receive the email address you submit there.

When you use interview practice features, we collect the selected topic, difficulty level, interview questions, typed answers, voice recordings, generated transcripts, answer scores, AI feedback, session progress, and related practice history needed to show your results.

If you use subscriptions or purchases, Apple and RevenueCat process purchase and subscription information. We use subscription status, product identifiers, transaction status, and related purchase metadata to unlock paid features and support purchase restoration. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, health data, advertising identifiers, or other sensitive personal information unless you choose to include that information in an interview answer or support message.

Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process basic technical information, such as IP address, browser or device type, timestamps, and server logs, only as needed to operate, secure, and deliver the app and website.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create, identify, and secure your account.
  • Let you log in to SpellInterview.
  • Generate interview questions for selected topics and levels.
  • Process typed answers and voice answers.
  • Transcribe voice answers into text.
  • Score answers, generate feedback, and show progress.
  • Read questions and feedback aloud when AI voice features are enabled.
  • Manage subscription access and purchase restoration.
  • Send account-related messages when needed.
  • Respond to support, privacy, or deletion requests.
  • Send registered users the SpellInterview app link.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and secure the service.

4. AI Processing and User Consent

SpellInterview uses SpellInterview servers and OpenAI to provide AI-powered interview features. Data sent for AI processing may include your selected topic, difficulty level, interview context, typed answers, voice recordings, generated transcripts, scores, feedback, and progress data.

This data is used to generate interview questions, transcribe voice answers, read content aloud, score answers, and create feedback. We ask you to accept the in-app AI Data Use disclosure before you start interviews or submit answers that send data for AI processing.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your interview answers, voice recordings, transcripts, scores, or feedback to train public or third-party AI models.

5. Tracking, Advertising, and Analytics

SpellInterview does not sell your personal information. We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising, and we do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

6. Sharing With Service Providers

We may use trusted service providers for hosting, authentication, database storage, email delivery, subscriptions, purchase management, AI processing, voice transcription, voice-over generation, and other infrastructure needed to operate SpellInterview. These providers may process personal information only to provide services to us and must protect user data with the same or equal level of care described in this Privacy Policy.

Our third-party providers include OpenAI for AI processing, Apple for App Store purchases, and RevenueCat for subscription management and purchase restoration. Hosting, authentication, database, and email providers may also process data as needed to operate, secure, and deliver the service.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of SpellInterview.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep account information, interview content, transcripts, scores, feedback, progress history, and subscription status for as long as your account remains active or as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce agreements.

Voice recordings may be processed to provide transcription, scoring, feedback, and review features. Depending on the feature and system state, we may retain voice recordings, transcripts, and related session data as part of your account history unless you delete your account or request deletion.

You can request deletion of your account and associated account data at any time by contacting us at support@spellinterview.com. We will delete or anonymize your account data unless we are required to retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.

8. Consent and Account Control

By creating an account, submitting your email through the website, starting an interview, or submitting an answer, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. Before using AI interview features in the app, you are asked to accept an AI Data Use disclosure that explains what data may be sent and who it is sent to.

You can avoid voice data by using typed answers instead of voice answers. You can withdraw consent by requesting account deletion. If you withdraw consent, you may no longer be able to use account-based or AI-powered features.

9. Children's Privacy

SpellInterview is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the personal information we store. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Use

SpellInterview may be operated from or hosted in countries other than your own. By using the service, you understand that your information may be processed where our service providers operate.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as SpellInterview evolves. If changes are material, we will update the effective date and provide notice where appropriate.
